DFI Week 2- Wow a lot of unexpected LEARNing!!!

Digital Fluency Intensive Week 2  Work flow /  LEARN session "Access and engage with existing knowledge" in a digital environment - LEARN I find I am learning to access a lot of new tools and pathways for managing both organisational and teaching components of my digital journey.  Personally engaging with existing knowledge today has been essential as I have had to work by myself using the slides as I was supporting my sick son in hospital. What an experience though as I got a first hand lesson in the impact of learning and working digitally. There is a lot of "down time" in an ED yet being connected in a limited way enabled me to feel supported to continue my learning in a self directed manner, which is what we want our learners to be able to do.  I consider often how the children must feel as learners; being challenged with new material, ways of making meaning, demanding expectations and fragile self belief. Digital Fluency Intensive Week 1 - Journey They say every journey begins with a single step!  This journey for me began when I joined a Manaiakalani school this year, having been out of the classroom for four years working in the field of Mindfulness, Behaviour and Anxiety Regulation. What an exhilarating journey this will be if this first session is an example of what can be achieved. The first session, hearing the development/history of the Manaiakalani Trust was valuable to see this began as a process to develop the dispositions of our young people as engaged learners and that the technology is a tool but the process is the key Learn Create Share.  I am excited by the prospect of developing my digital fluency and feel more confident as a learner that I will be supported and guided through this journey.
